What is DECA?

​

Since 1946, DECA has organized around an ambitious goal: to improve education and career opportunities for students interested in careers in marketing, management, and entrepreneurship. What began with a few hundred students in 17 states has grown to over 225,000 students in all 50 states, Canada, China, Germany, Poland, Guam, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Spain.

 

DECA’s Objective

To support the development of marketing and management skills in career areas such as hospitality, finance, sales and service, business administration, and entrepreneurship. Programs and activities are tailored to the specific career interest of students and include technical skills, basic scholastic and communication skills, human relations and employment skills, and a strong emphasis on economics and free enterprise.

Marjory Stoneman Douglas DECA

​

Marjory Stoneman Douglas DECA is one of the largest chapters (over 700 strong) and most respected clubs at MSD. As of April 2024, it is the seventh largest chapter in the world. DECA, a co-curricular worldwide organization, is open to all MSD students who are in the Academy of Finance or Academy of Hospitality and Tourism.

All members will have an opportunity to compete at DECA Districts, with a chance to win and compete at the Florida Career Development Conference in Orlando, and then at the International Career Development Conference! MSD DECA has been the top chapters to compete in Broward County, and we expect great results as always!
