NAF COURSES
Suggested Timeline
Two courses may be taken in one year.
Freshman Year: Business Communication and Technology
Students will learn Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; general business and marketing skills; and customer service skills.
Freshman Year (Prerequisite MOS Certification): Business and Entrepreneurship Principles Honors
Introduces students to business organizations, business management, entrepreneurship principles, general business and marketing skills, and customer service skills.
Sophomore Year: Economics and Financial Services Honors
Students will learn about investing, including stocks, bonds, and the Stock Market; business organizations; credit scores, credit cards vs. debit cards; financial services, and the Federal Reserve. Students will also partake in the Stock Market Game during first semester.
Junior Year: Accounting Applications Honors
Students will learn the the Accounting Cycle, including the difference between debits and credits; how to journalize entries; and how to create, post, and analyze financial statements. Students will then work to get their QuickBooks Online Certification during second semester.
Summer Between Junior & Senior Year: Financial Internship Honors
Students will complete a 120-hour paid internship that provides hands-on real business experience at a business of the student's choice.
Senior Year: Personal Financial Planning Honors
Students will work to get their Entrepreneurship & Small Businesses Certification during first semester and will learn budgeting skills, insurance & risk management, income taxes & retirement planning, and more throughout second semester.
