discover your future

DISCOVER YOUR FUTURE IS ICDC BOUND!

Teenagers across the nation lack the foundational skills necessary to secure and keep a job. These skills include but are not limited to, interview skills, and technology skills (Microsoft Office Skills, Intuit Services, ServSafe, and more). In addition, these students do not have access to effectively building a resume

and/or a LinkedIn profile. These skills are some of the most crucial for entering a career.

Students would attend meetings at local meeting places, like the Parkland Library, or Zoom webinars to expand on the skills necessary in the workforce. Some club meetings would entail resume workshops, mock job interviews, professional guest speakers, technology workshops to teach students basic Microsoft Office skills, and the opportunity to grow interpersonal and communication skills. From attending meetings, students would gain the skills they will use in the future to secure and keep a job.

This would benefit all students, especially those who are not enrolled in career-development courses. It will help them become confident in their skills, which can make all the difference in a job interview. This club will teach students skills they will use for the rest of their lives that are truly necessary in day-to-day work. Following three months of these workshops, there will be a career fair for students to have the ability to network and work with professionals across a variety of fields. They will be able to meet professionals and confirm their resumes and profiles are satisfactory.
